Active Hope in times of change and crisis: a workshop

  • Gembrook Retreat 215 Beenak East Road Gembrook, VIC, 3783 Australia (map)

Are you overwhelmed or exhausted when confronted by the various crises we are facing? Do you struggle to feel gratitude? Are you unsure how to process emotions related to these times, or find perspective, or even know where to start?

This workshop, based on the Work That Reconnects, provides useful resources that strengthen our motivation, creativity, courage and capacity to respond to challenging issues in our world, and allows participants to explore and grow connection - to the land, ourselves, and each other. This is Active Hope.

Throughout the day we will participate in nature immersion, deep listening and sharing, community building and eating good food! These practices will help us to discover new confidence and clarity to play our part in the collective transition to new ways of being that support the flourishing of life in this world.

Meals provided (vegan, with gluten free options)

Cost: sliding scale $75/$100/$125

Please contact us if cost would prevent you from attending as we are able to offer some further subsidised places. We are also happy to receive payment in instalments. Feel free to talk to us about using NDIS funding.

The "Active Hope" workshop was a significant, learning experience for me. It was beautifully facilitated and the whole workshop felt very safe and well planned and delivered. One of the best workshops I have done for a long, long time.

Tim Budge, Tribal Strategies

This retreat day provided me with a really valuable opportunity to rest, reflect and re-centre within peaceful surrounds. The facilitators did an excellent job of creating a safe space for honest vulnerability and restorative creativity. Over the course of the day a room of strangers became precious companions on the healing journey. Highly recommended!!

Claire Harvey, Frankston City Councillor

This workshop is a humble reminder of our relationship to the earth and a powerful framework for showing gratitude, sharing grief and connecting as beings of this earth. An opportunity to reflect on our role as earth-custodians in a time of ecological destruction and social unrest; but also in a time of hope and action. Highly recommend; if not for these reasons, then for the food :)

Ethan Gordon, Institute for Sustainable Futures

It was profoundly powerful to pause from the ‘fight against’ and have a space to grieve. It has reconnected my heart and soul into my work for change - I feel a bit more integrated, less overwhelmed, more hopeful and heart-felt.
